In 1998, the “Safe Cop” reward paid to a FBI informant who was credited for the arrest and conviction of “Crazy Charlie Rodriguez” who had been profiled on “America’s Most Wanted”. Crazy Charlie was one of Camden’s most wanted fugitives for a string of armed bank robberies and the armed assault of Camden (NJ) Police Officer Steven Leoni. The suspect was arrested in a shootout within agents on the New Jersey Turnpike. As a result of these efforts, the NPDF received a letter of commendation from FBI SSA Robert F. Downey who was the resident agent in charge of the Cherry Hill New Jersey
