SAFE COP REWARD PAYMENTS: ST. PETERSBURG POLICE OFFICER DAVID CRAWFORD

On July 24, 2012, I appeared at a press conference at the St. Petersburg Florida Police Headquarters wherein I paid a $10,000 Safe Cop reward to the citizen whose information was credited for the arrest and conviction of the murderer of St. Petersburg Police Officer David Crawford. Officer Crawford was shot and killed on February 21, 2011 after he and another officer responded to a report of a suspicious person walking through a backyard with a broken brick in his hand. Officer Crawford canvassed the area and found the subject, parked his patrol car and approached the male. At some point during the encounter there was an exchange of gunfire and Officer Crawford was shot and killed. The suspect fled and after a 24-hour search, the suspect was arrested and charged with first degree murder. On March 23, 2012, he was found guilty and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
