MORGANVILLE, NJ, FEBRUARY 24, 2015:
Executive Director Joseph Occhipinti announced the payment of a $10,000 Safe Cop cash reward to a senior citizen whose critical information and trial testimony led to the arrest and conviction of Jahmell Crockham who killed Lakewood NJ Police Officer Chris Matlosz on January 14, 2011.

The Safe Cop program is a congressionally recognized law
enforcement initiative of the National Police Defense
Foundation that posts up to a $10,000 reward for public
information leading to the arrest and conviction of any person
who shoots at a law enforcement officer, anywhere in the United
States.
On January 15, 2011 a request was made by the Lakewood Police
Department to post the Safe Cop reward.
On January 16, 2011 the suspect was captured by authorities
without incident in Camden, New Jersey and will face murder
charges and bond has been set at five million dollars.
The Safe Cop program was established in 1995 and has been
instrumental in the arrest of several suspects nationwide
involved in police related shooting, the most recent involving
the murder of a Paterson Police Officer Tyrone Franklin of the
Paterson NJ Police Department.
