$10,000 SAFE COP REWARD
Morganville, NJ, August 10, 2018: Executive Director Joseph Occhipinti announced the posting of the $10,000 Safe Cop Reward in connection with the unprovoked ambush shooting of two Camden County Police Department (NJ) Detectives on August 8, 2018 by unknown assailants.
As a result of this armed assault and calculated ambush, Camden County Detectives Devin Henry and Elizabeth Ponte were shot and subsequently hospitalized. The shooting occurred on “National Night Out” and should have been an evening to bring the community and police together.
Director Occhipinti stated “the posting of this Safe Cop reward will hopefully send a strong message to these cowardless criminals who attempted to assassinate two police officers that their criminal actions will not be tolerated. Moreover, it’s only a matter of time before the suspects will be apprehended”.
The posting of the $10,000 Safe Cop reward was predicated upon a formal request from Camden County Police Deputy Chief Richard Verticelli on August 10, 2018.
The Safe Cop program is a congressionally recognized law enforcement initiative of the National Police Defense Foundation (NPDF) that posts up a $10,000 cash reward for public information leading to the arrest and conviction of any person who shoots at a law enforcement officer, anywhere in the United States.

The Safe Cop program was established in 1995 and has been instrumental in the arrest and conviction of several suspects involved in police related shooting that included the murders of New Jersey East Orange Police Officer Joyce Carnegie, Paterson Police Officer Tyrone Franklin, Lakewood Police Officer Christopher Matlosz, among others nationwide.
