NPDF FUNDS FUNERAL FOR HERO DHS CUSTOMS AGENT KILLED IN THE LINE OF DUTY

MORGANVILLE, NJ December 5,2022:

The National Police Defense Foundation (NPDF) is proud to announce the posthumous induction into the NPDF of a heroic Customs/Border Patrol Agent who was killed in the line of duty on November 17, 2022.

Marine Interdiction Agent Michael Maceda was shot and killed during a maritime narcotics interdiction operation near Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico. He and two other agents intercepted a vessel they believed to be transporting narcotics. One of the occupants of the vessel opened fire on the agents as they began to board it. All three agents and both suspects were shot during the ensuing melee. Over thirteen hundred kilograms of cocaine were recovered from the boat the agents were attempting to board.

Unfortunately, it has been learned that the Federal Government will not satisfy the cost of the funeral for the Agent, so the family of Michael Maceda has contacted the National Police Defense Foundation in the hope that the Foundation will be able to assist them in some way in satisfying the cost of the funeral for this heroic agent. He leaves a 17-year-old daughter behind.

The NPDF is committed to helping to defray the cost of the officer’s funeral and interment and is in the process of doing so. Tax deductible donations may be made to the National Police Defense Foundation’s Safe Cop Program to assist in future cases.

The “Safe Cop” program is a congressionally recognized law enforcement initiative of the National Police Defense Foundation (NPDF) that posts up a $10,000 cash reward for public information leading to the arrest and conviction of any person who shoots at a law enforcement officer, anywhere in the United States.

The NPDF Executive Board has also taken the unprecedented step of expanding the Safe Cop reward program to include the arrest and conviction of any person  who makes terroristic threats to kill a public safety officer on social media or acts of arson or vehicular assault. We ask that everyone support law enforcement at this critical time.
