The National Police Defense Foundation (NPDF) is proud to announce the Knighting of our Executive Director, Joseph Occhipinti into the Vatican’s “Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre.” This is a Catholic order of knighthood, first established in 1099 that’s under the protection of the Holy See. The Pope is the sovereign of the order.
The Knighting of Director Occhipinti, who is referred to as a “Cavaliere,” was celebrated in a special investiture Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral on Saturday, October 15th, 2022. Pope Francis previously recognized Director Occhipinti for his humanitarian efforts regarding the NPDF’s “Operation Kids” program that helps arrange life-saving medical treatment and operations for critically ill children worldwide.
