On October 9, 2013, NPDF Director Joseph Occhipinti received a prestigious humanitarian award at the 2013 International Sports & Culture Awards Ceremony that took place at the United Nations in New York City. The Master of Ceremonies was TV host Wendy Williams and invited guests included the United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki Moon, the Consul General of China among other foreign Ambassadors. The organizations that recognized the NPDF Director was the Union National Culture and Sports Foundation and American-China Sports Association.
