On December 9, 1981 Philadelphia Police Officer Daniel Faulkner was ambushed and killed by Wesley Cook, also known as Mumia Abu-Jamal. Jamal was arrested on the scene holding the “smoking gun.” He was charged and in 1982 unanimously convicted by a jury for the murder of the police officer.
