On July 20, 2018, the Freehold Boro YMCA and police department held an outdoor youth event at Liberty Oak Park that was attended hundreds of area children. It marked the third year that the National Police Defense Foundation was the event’s sponsor under their “Operation Kids” program. This year’s event provided free lunch and ice cream to the children and held different athletic events that included playing basketball with police officers. The Freehold Fire Department had a “hook & Ladder’ demonstration for the kids and the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Department had a K-9 presentation of a staged take down of a fleeing suspect by their K-9 dog. A special presentation was made to the NPDF thanking them for their continued support
