MORGANVILLE, NJ, AUGUST 22, 2012: Executive Director Joseph
Occhipinti announced the posting of the $10,000 Safe Cop Reward in connection with
the unsolved shooting death of Philadelphia Police Officer Moses Walker Jr. The slain
officer was shot on the way home after finishing his shift on January 18, 2012 by
unknown assailants in North Philadelphia.
The Safe Cop program is a congressionally recognized law enforcement initiative of
the National Police Defense Foundation that posts up to a $10,000 reward for public
information leading to the arrest and conviction of any person who shoots at a law
enforcement officer, anywhere in the United States.
Any person having information relative to this police shooting is requested to contact the
Philadelphia Police Department at 215-686-8477 (TIPS), local FBI office or National Police
Defense Foundation at 888-SAFE COP.
The Safe Cop program was established in 1995 and has been instrumental in the
arrest of and conviction of several cop killers nationwide, the most recent involving
the murder of Police Officer David Crawford of the St. Petersburg Police Department
in Florida.
