The NPDF previously brought to your attention the plight of 8-year-old John Paul Miskell of Spotswood, New Jersey who is suffering from a severe case of Autism that results in unexpected seizures. On March 17, 2016 the parents requested the assistance of Operation Kids to help raise funds to purchase a service dog that could help John Paul deal with his disability and detect oncoming seizures. The NPDF is happy to announce that on August 28, 2016, the NPDF bought for John Paul a puppy Havanese puppy who will undergo training to be a service dog. I want to thank the NPDF members who donated to this fund and encourage other members to make a tax-deductible donation to help defer the expected costs in training the dog.

OPERATION KIDS ESTABLISHES FUND FOR AUTISTIC BOY WITH SEVERE SEIZURES

MORGANVILLE, NJ, MARCH 21, 2016: Executive Director Joseph Occhipinti announced the establishment of a medical fund for eight-year-old JohnPaul Miskell of Spotswood, New Jersey who is suffering from a severe case of Autism and seizures.
The parents of JohnPaul have been unsuccessful in raising funds to purchase a Certified Multi Service Dog for their son that can cost up to $40,000. Scientific studies have shown that fully trained service dogs can help autistic children in minimizing their anxieties and self-stimming behaviors. In addition, a multi trained service dog could potentially detect severe seizures that JohnPaul is experiencing and prevent further physical injury to the child.
The Operation Kids program, a congressionally recognized child safety initiative of the National Police Defense Foundation, is credited for arranging numerous lifesaving operations for critically ill children worldwide. The program demonstrates law enforcement’s commitment to protect our children from criminal elements and life threatening illnesses.
The Operation Kids program has established the “JohnPaul Miskell Medical Fund” whereas 100% of the funds raised will go towards the purchase of a service dog. The NPDF is an IRS designated 501 (c) (3) foundation, therefore, all donations are tax exempt. <<Read the full press release here >>
