NPDF Safe Cop Reward Offer Leads to arrest of cop killerS

 

MORGANVILLE, NJ:

The National Police Defense Foundation is proud to announce that a partnership between the NPDF’s Safe Cop Reward Program and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) has led to the arrest of 44-year-old predicate felon Michael Lopez, who is a suspect in the murder of Melvindale Police Officer Mohamad Said on July 21st, 2024.

Officer Said was investigating a “suspicious man” complaint when he confronted Lopez and a foot pursuit ensued. After a short struggle, Lopez shot and killed the officer then escape by bicycle.  NPDF Secretary, ATF Special Agent in Charge John DeVito (ret.) worked diligently with Lieutenant and Safe Cop coordinator Karl Milligan (ret.) to post the reward that led to the arrest of Lopez.

The National Police Defense Foundation has taken an active role in helping to identify and apprehend anyone who shoots or kills a police officer. Under the leadership and guidance of Executive Director Joseph Occhipinti, we offer a ten-thousand-dollar reward ($10,000) for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone who shoots or kills a member of the law enforcement community.

Anyone who has information leading to the arrest and conviction of a suspect who shoots a police officer is urged to contact NPDF Secretary, ATF Special Agent in Charge John DeVito (ret.) or Lieutenant Karl Milligan (ret.), Safe Cop Coordinator at 1-888- SAFE COP. All information will be kept confidential and shared only with law enforcement sources.
