The NPDF is deeply saddened to hear about the suicide of 15-year-old Quadrique Pretlow on January 28, 2014 at his home in Linden, New Jersey. Linden police are conducting an investigation into allegations of bullying in connection with Pretlow’s death.
Executive Director Joseph Occhipinti has offered a $5,000 reward for public information leading to the arrest and conviction of the parties allegedly responsible for the bullying that led to the boy’s suicide.
The Operation Kids program established in 1995 several child safety initiatives to protect children from the victimization of criminal elements, such as “Project Pedophile”, posting rewards for the safe recovery of kidnapped children and the distribution of free child
fingerprinting/DNA kits to parents in an effort to help authorities trace kidnapped and missing children.
More recent, the program was expanded to address the serious increase of adolescent suicides attributed to bullying, such as the Quadrique Pretlow suicide.
The NPDF has also established the Quadrique Pretlow Memorial Fund in an effort to help the family pay for the funeral and burial expenses.
