| MORGANVILLE, NJ, JANUARY 14, 2017: Executive Director Joseph Occhipinti and the entire Executive Board of the National Police Defense Foundation (NPDF) wish to express their utter outrage and disgust at the continued effort of Rep. Lacy Clay (D-MO) and the Congressional Black Caucus to hang a painting depicting police officers as pigs terrorizing a black neighborhood, inside our nation’s Capital. |

| The painting by student David Pulphus is an alleged interpretation of the unrest that took place in Ferguson, Missouri on August 9, 2014 when Michael Brown was shot and killed after attacking and attempting to disarm a police officer. Brown’s shooting served as a catalyst for the “Black Lives Matter” movement that erroneously claimed that white officers were targeting and murdering black men in cold blood with racial animus. Such an outrageous narrative has been wholly debunked by statistical evidence and multiple respected studies. But that didn’t stop Representative Clay and members of the Congressional Black Caucus from attempting to fan the flames of “anti-cop” hatred by hanging this offensive caricature in the Cannon Tunnel on Capitol Hill the same week that heroic NYPD First Grade Detective Steven McDonald died. The National Police Defense Foundation encourages everyone who is equally outraged by the show of blatant disrespect by our political representatives to join Executive Director Joe Occhipinti and call their Congressman and Senators to demand that this insulting portrait be removed from the People’s House. |
